View Full Version : Officer elections

The Big Spank Daddy
September 1st, 2004, 04:41 PM
As the presiding President of TSBA Houston, it is my duty to report that it is nearing election time for new officers.

1. Houston Chapter TSBA members wishing to nominate themselves or another Houston Chapter TSBA member for office may do so by posting on this thread no later than September 15, 2004.

2. All nominees will be given until September 16, 2004 to accept or decline the nomination.

3. The ballot will be posted on the Houston forum September 17, 2004 with voting to continue thru midnight October 1, 2004.

4. The e-mail address listed as your active e-mail on your membership application will be the only e-mail address accepted. This will be used to verify only one vote per member.

5. All votes will be tallied October 2, 2004 and the new officers will be announced shortly thereafter.

6. New officers will begin their office with the November Monthly Meeting. This will give them approximately four weeks to become familiar with all the nuances of each office - particularly treasurer.

Offices Open for Election:

President
Vice-President
Treasurer
Secretary

Pete has indicated that he will be stepping down as Treasurer. I will also be stepping down as President. I have not heard from Tony, so he will have to post up with his intentions.

I will be stepping down as Vice President. I will be active with the club and encourage members to step up. It's been one year I'll never forget, that's for sure. ;)

I'd like to nominate Charles for some kind of office (P or VP). He is always there at TSBA functions.

I second the nomination for Charles (Stealth) Nevle as President or Vice President.

Enthusiasm and club participation is needed for the President, and Charles definitely has enthusiasm for riding and planning rides! :D Plus, he has attended almost every TSBA function this year - even other chapters' IBIs and parties. Now THAT's participation!

Thanks for the nomination Oskar and Cindy, but I don't even know the routes yet!

Also, I can rarely make the monthly meeting due to kid commitments. Soccer, karate, dance, scouts, birthday parties... Every month it is something. This Saturday it's a b-day party that will keep me from attending.

I should not complain, I'm lucky to have a wife that let's me ride nearly every Sunday and do the weekend stuff when it comes up. As my dad has told me on numerous occasions, the best decision I ever made was marrying that woman!

I really enjoy being part of the group, but I think you need someone that can commit to making the meetings on a regular basis.

Other than that, I am happy to help the organization in any way I can.

I definitely agree - Paul should be our new president smile.gif He already has some good improvement ideas (thanks Paul - a spell checker will significantly improve the participation level of us legal aliens ;) and he is exhibiting the right attitude (wow ... taking away privileges).

Paul, you got my vote! :D

The only reason I would take the treasure’s job is if no one else wanted it. I don’t mind doing it but have a pretty full plate with family affairs. So If someone else is interested please post up and I will decline the privilege.

I've given this topic lots of serious thought, and here are my nominations for the incoming officers:

President: Paul Sonderfan
Frequent attendance at monthly meetings.
Frequently participates in SMRs and other TSBA rides, both with the Houston chapter and other chapters.
Has a certain sense of maturity, integrity, and patience.
Has the respect of most, if not all, of the Houston chapter members.

Vice-President: Tom Anderson
May not attend SMRs, other TSBA rides, or monthly meetings frequently, but he remains very involved in the activities of the club by keeping in touch and up-to-date through the BBS and personal e-mails.
Attends rides/functions when his work schedule allows it.
Has an opinion and vote on every issue involving the Houston chapter.
Is in tune with other members of the Houston chapter.

Secretary: Scott Eichorn
May not attend very many SMRs because of other commitments, but does participate in other TSBA rides, sponsored both by Houston and other chapters.
Frequently attends monthly meetings.
Good participation in votes, elections, etc.

Treasurer: Randy Bain
Already has 1 year experience as Houston chapter treasurer.
Already has 1 year experience as TSBA Store Manager/Treasurer/Gopher.
Attends most monthly meetings.
Participates in rides, sponsored both by Houston and other chapters.

All of these men show the qualities needed to be good officers:

Participation both locally and statewide. The officers must be able to interact and relate to the other chapter officers. Their participation in club activities has given them the opportunity to meet and form friendships with members from other chapters.

Main interest focused on what is good for the club. The officers must look out for the good of the club, not just one or a few members. They have to be able to make difficult choices/decisions that may not/will not be understood by some of the other members. In the past, these men have been able to put aside personal friendship in order to do what was best for the club as a whole.

Varied experience with riding. Between street riding, track days, and actual racing experience, these men have the knowledge to be excellent mentors for new riders. They have the knowledge (if they wish to use it) to encourage safe riding, improve skills, and still have a good time.

I would love for someone else to have the treasurer position. I'll do it, but with the understanding that I won't make most meetings or SMRs.

Sorry for the conditions but family matters prevail.

After our president's term has expired, does he get a library built in his name at the college of his choice? And does he get to publish his memoirs? Lets not forget the lifetime retirement fund.

Even if running unopposed we need a vote.

From the by-laws:
"ELECTION OF OFFICERS
A person who meets any qualification requirements to be an officer and who has been duly nominated may be elected as an officer. Officers shall be elected by the vote of the membership of The Corporation in September of each year. Each officer shall hold office until a successor is elected and qualified. An officer may be elected to succeed themselves. Voting shall be by paper or electronic ballot with a simple majority required to win. In the event of a tie, a runoff election shall be held, again determined by simple majority."

We are a corporation and can not play loose with the rules of conduct.
