I have a friend that moved to Houston last week and has no job right now. He finished a trade school to be an electrician, and is looking for a job right now. Anyone got any leads?

If he is interested in substation work I might be able to help. CenterPoint Energy (used to be HL&P) might be hiring a few people in the next couple of months.

Which school did he attend?

Upside:
Substation work includes everything from working on mechanical devices to electronic repair.

Interesting work because you never know what you will be doing that day.

4/10 hour days. Either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday.

Downside:
You have to work around high voltage all the time. 12,000 to 345,000 volts.

You have to be comfortable working in structures up 140 feet.

You have to be comfortable working in confined spaces.

You are on call 24/7.
