Brian and Pete are much better than I in given a ride report so I will wait for them to post up, but I just have to say that the parts of North Carolina and Tennesee we went through were just beautiful. The Blue Ridge Parkway was AWESOME. The scenery was unreal. The Skyway was probably the best road we ventured down...of course we ran Deal's Gap numerous times and we were in awe of this car that seemed like it was not of this world, passing sportbikes like they were Harley's in the Gap!

Brian and Pete are leaving Lafayette now and should be hitting Houston in about 3 to 4 hours. Brian has photos and videos (mostly of himself :D ) that he said he would post up when he had the chance.

None of us went down or had any mechanical problems. Although Pete and I thought Brian had a moment on the Skyway. He thought he say the biggest beaver in the land and wanted to take a picture of it; come to find out it was just a ground hog. tongue.gif

We had some run-ins with a N.C. State Trooper and the Federal Park Police, but we were half lucky on not getting any tickets.

Can't wait till Labor Day! Got my room next to Brians' so we can share that bottle of Hennesey!

Can't wait for the pictures and video, if any. Glad everyone got back safe and sound. Glad to hear that the "Gap" is'nt the only road to ride up there, considering the effort needed to get there and money for gas, accomodations and food. I have'nt ridden out-of-state in many years. Hopefully this is the year I do it again.

Ok here is the Video that you have waited for.
Deals Gap Video (http://users2.ev1.net/%7Eroy324/Brian/Deals%20Gap/deals%20gap%20run.wmv)

It was a blast of course and the next run to the Gap will be Labor Day Weekend. For all those that are interested, you may want to go ahead and reserve a room at the Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort. The rooms run $50.00 a day and sleeps 3 people. The link can be found here: www.dealsgap.com (http://www.dealsgap.com)

We rode all over the area and of course, we had fun. Sean got busted by the National Parks Ranger and was promptly escorted away from Blue Ridge Parkway. It was absolutly beautiful. This road has 26 tunnels that cut through the mountians. It was like being in a real life video game like Ridge racer.

Later on that evening on the trip back to the hotel, I got busted on the hwy trying to get to the hotel before dark. I had a feeling that we should have taken the backroads back but oh well. I got a ticket for 70 in a 55 which carries a whopping $25.00 fine and $100.00 for court cost.

On another note, the other great roads that we road were the Cherohala Skyway. Now this road was an absolute blast to ride on. It has some awesome knee dragging sweepwers. And in one instance while rounding the corner draging the pucks, out of nowhere appears a huge beaver like creature which turned out to be a ground hog. I had to lift my knee to avoid the **** thing and then I slammed on the brakes to get a shot of it only to see that it had disappeared into the underbrush. I was a little pissed to have missed the photo op. Oh well.

For those of you that didn't go, you missed out on the most breathtaking scenery trips that you could ever had wished to see.

About the video, I rode behind Sean for a while and then Pete for a while before making the pass and attempting to catch the red devil of a car. It was a Honda S2000 with sway bars, race compound tires and some mild engine work. Now this thing hauled ***. It was on rails. There are some really tight corners that it could fly through. Take a look towards the end of the video to see me run with the car. It is absolutly amazing.

You put the dog pics in! He was loving it when I was rubbing his head a scracthing his chin, but why did he look so angry in the second pic? Must have not liked Bubba's earrings.

The guy that owned the dog said he has an FJR and had something on the tank for the dog. He said that animal has done about 10,000 miles with him.

I don't think it would be possible to find any riding in the US to top the roads we ran this weekend. Thanks to Brian for scoping it out last year and planning the logistics for this trip. I sure wish we had something like the Blue Ridge Parkway to run in the summer time. We went from mid 80's at 1000ft elevation to about mid 50's at 6000+ elevation.

My pics can be found at the link below. This is the first time I've used imagestation and for some reason you have to click the thumbnail twice to get to the original high quality pic.

Well its gotten like 50 views in less than a day so I'm not sure why you can't see. Unless someone has a better site to host pictures for free I don't know what to tell ya.

Our photos are up on killboy.com (http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?EventFrame?event=04RK002M) and of course most of them are for Brian. smile.gif I guess I'll have to stop and talk to that dude next time to get more pictures of ME! tongue.gif Pete I suggest you do the same. I didn't see any Saturday Sportbikes on there. :( Did I miss it on the page?

I had about 8 or so on there but I don't think he has them all uploaded yet. The traffic Friday was dead compared to Saturday. I think me and Brian could take some pictures just as good if we leap frog each other using all of the turn offs during a run.

There was a cool one that showed Brian from behind dragging a knee and Pete was in the curve ahead.

****** Brian, you could have saved me $30.00. :D

I sent an email to Killboy about Saturday and this is his reponse...

Hey Sean,

Yeah the upload got cut off and only part of the shots got uploaded. I'm going to head up there in the morning and try it again. (I have to take my laptop to a nearby lodge with high-speed internet access to upload)

Best Regards,

It looks like we definitely picked the right weekend to go. All the crazyness that people were saying was going to happen over the holiday ended up happening the weekend after! Check out the gap links for some wild reading.

Doesn't that make the second death on the Gap this year?

Ok the time has come once again to head out to Deals Gap...Thursday, September 2nd, 2004. If you are set on going, now is the time to post up! We will be back late Sunday evening September 5th. Most people are of Monday so this gives you a day of much needed rest. (trust me)
