Well, it took me a little longer than I intended but here are the pics of the new truck.

This is one proud new papa standing beside his dream truck.

A shot of the tail before any accessories were added.

Got that rotten dealer badge off the rear window. Also put the cab light cover on and put some mudflaps on.
The chroming begins.

Ruth took the truck to a park to get some nicer pictures. She was having a problem taking pictures after I waxed it.

June 20th, 2006, 01:45 PM
Man I love this thing.

And nobody start with me about how difficult it will be to keep it clean. We know exactly what we bought and are prepared to keep it clean.

I've owned nothing but black motorcycles before and we owned a black truck. I know what I'm in for.

Isn't gonna be hard to keep clean?

hehehehe- very nice! congrats!

Nice, Darren. I notice that you did not opt for the four-wheel steering. (?)

June 20th, 2006, 02:14 PM
I didn't custom order Brad. And I don't think you can get that on the HD's. I think that's just an option on the 1500's.

Nice truck! If fuel prices in Meena-tooba get really bad, you can always run it on used frier oil. ;)

June 20th, 2006, 05:01 PM
be-yoo-tea-ful! Oh, if only my work drive wasn't a 60 mile round trip, I would have a similar steed in my driveway!

June 20th, 2006, 06:20 PM
Nice dude!

Nice ride dude, black, looks awesome, but hard to clean! I know, owner of a Black ZX-14!!!

June 22nd, 2006, 12:51 PM
Looking good bro... it comes in a color besides black?.. who would buy it then?

June 22nd, 2006, 04:31 PM
Didn't you mention blacking out all the chrome on some fantasy truck? Is that your plan here? The truck is black, as others have astutely pointed out, so that's a good start..

June 22nd, 2006, 04:35 PM
You have a very good memory Sean.
That has been an idea of fine for a while but the cost associated with going to black chrome on the bumpers and grill have scared me away.

So I'm going the other direction. Just black and chrome.

Styling is always a personal thing. Me, I like chrome. Lots and lots of chrome. On a truck anyway.

Hey, I still remember every single kid that picked on me from kindergarten up to middle school and have innovative plans to instrument their deaths. :D

Nice hammer. But its a truck, quit waxing it and get it muddy like its a 4X4. :)

June 27th, 2006, 12:01 PM
No way. I've got a dirtbike for that job.
Ruth took some pictures of the truck and trailer together. I'll try and get them up later today.

It's a pretty impressive rig when it's all connected.

You guys get to just transfer over your license plates from one vehicle to another up there?

June 29th, 2006, 10:04 AM
Good catch. Yeah. The plate is registered to the owner of the vehicle, not the vehicle itself.
You go down to the Manitoba Public Insurance, show them the bill of sale and tax documentation, then calculate new insurance rates, don't put on a condom, give it to you, then tell you your new truck is covered.
Then you just move the plate to the new vehicle.

once you go black.....coming from the owner of black z71 suburban you got a sweet truck

Thanks Scout.

Here is a picture of the truck and the trailer together.
We had pulled over at this point to mess with the brake controller to get it set properly.

July 17th, 2006, 02:12 PM
Here is a picture of the hitch. We picked up a double pivot for a really good price. An RV repair outfit close by bought hundreds of these Reese hitches so they could blow them out at a good price.
Paid less than a single pivot costs most other places.

Here's another shot of the back end of the truck after the hitch and toolbox got put in.

truck and camper need matching rims. 22" spinners prefferably!

July 17th, 2006, 04:47 PM
Gee... you look like a proper hick now :)

Wait until I finish. The step tubes are on order now. They were supposed to be here last Thursday but ended up backordered.

And, you wanna see hick?

Check out the portable firepit I made for the lake.

I can't wait to see the look on the neighbour's face when I roll up with this thing fully engulfed carrying a bottle of rum.
