View Full Version : Looking for 1984-1985 Honda Interceptor 500cc engine or bike

July 18th, 2008, 10:50 PM
I have a 1984 VF500 Honda Interceptor and I am needing a engine for it. My engine appears to be locked. Looking for a replacement engine or maybe even a project bike or even better a running 1983-1985 Interceptor Vf500 or VF700.
Any help or info. will be greatly appreciated.
I know these bike are old, but I just love the old 1st generation Interceptors.

Rob Windsor has one I've been trying to pry from his greedy grasp for as long as I've been in TSBA. I have been unsuccessful.

You mean this one?

(I have the stock seat also, if you were wondering.)

And Brad is correct, I'm a bit greedy with this particular object. :)

There's a yahoo group or two that you can troll -- "interceptors" is the better one, IIRC.

I just saw one in New Braunfels this evening at the movie theater(running) 2 hours ago.
Try Woods Cycle Country in New Braunfels. The had one in the back for years and even tried to sell it before(that was before they changed ownership, I think). I believe they had the VF700.
My brother had the VF1000R back in the '80s--Great bike at the time.
Too bad Honda did the retro Interceptor(red, white and blue) for 2008 and kept it an 800cc instead of going 1000cc--I might have bought one.
Good luck......

Thats the pic of my bike! The VF500F is the bike that I drooled over when I was in high school! I still remember my friends that had their ceptors from way back when! I got the entire bike with all the plastics including a full set of aftermarket lowers from glassworks if I am correct.
The engine wont turn over by hand and have been looking for an engine to do an R&R. The Interceptors are pretty hard to find around here.
I saw a 85 VF500 at the dealer here a few months ago for $1500.00 and I should not have passed up that deal. Still kicking myself about that one!
Just love the sound of the V-4 engines!
Still, thanks everyone for the posts and will still continue my search.:thumbsup:

Hard to find a babyceptor in good shape - most have been run ragged. If, however, I ever do find one in decent shape and for a non-ridiculous price.... ;)

I have a friend in Keller that owns 5 of the vintage Interceptors plus a garage full of parts. Most are 750s but he had a 500 motor and a 700cc motor as well.
Where are you located? No location on sig. PM me and I will give you his name and phone.

I have a buddy that is looking to sell his 1000 interceptor. I think it's an 84/5 and is in ment condition. If you're interested, send me a PM and I will get you his contact information.
