    MapPoint says the distance is...
102 Miles from Tayor to San Antonio
136 Miles from Taylor to Houston
152 Miles from Taylor to Ft. Worth
158 Miles from Taylor to Dallas

Of course these are all "as the crow flies", so the final mileage will be greater.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to where ever we decide to ride (as long as the BBQ is good).

The final call hasn't been made yet. Waiting to see if any more DFW peeps want to make it.

I may ride out east to check this route out. Looks like rain tomorrow. If dry, I will be in UT area (Trudys) 8:00~8:30. Go out manor road and on to 696.

Checked out the route from Lexington to Rockdale. It's a good enough road with little traffic and pleasent rolling countryside- ya know, Texas. Trouble is it's rather boring. This is definitely a 95 + ride- Nothing else to do.
I realize you guys live in Texas, but Austin (and SA) has the hill country (with actual hills) We're a spoiled bunch.
I think you Houston and Dallas guys owe it to yourselves to choose a ride that would offer some real excitement that only those twisty little roads out in the hills can offer.
There's no shame in making it a 2 day ride.
Anyway, the road is fine for high speed antics but don't forget the deer are MUCH bigger out east of Austin.

We'll all meet in Halletsville. Novosad's Meat Market is located at 105 S La Grange St. We'll meet up at high noon.

The game plan: arrive, , , , , , and then go home.

    Here's where Novosad's is located:

Went by Novosad's today just to verify they are still there. They are.

They are closed on Sunday's and Monday's so I could not go in, but I did note they are only open until 3pm on Saturday (and all other day's of the week as well). Looks to be plenty of parking available too.

    See ya'll on Saturday!

Well, the interchapter ride weekend is my turn to trek to Houston to see the g/f and I got it cleared by her to use the interchapter ride to make it a fun ride to her place. Looks like I'll be rolling to Novosad's w/ the Austin crew and heading towards Houston with that crew. Whee!!

Good ride today gang. We had 9 riders from SA and I believe 9 plus pillion from Houston. Fort Worth was also represented. The BBQ place was a little small but things worked out well and the food was real good. As we were coming out of the restaurant, the Austin boys rolled in. They took an "adventure" road to two getting there.

After gabbin' for a while, we took a group ride up to Shulenburg and split off our different directions. We had a few drops here and there but nothing bad to speak of. It was very HUMID though.

It was a very good day overall except for me about 6 miles from home. Here's the scoop on that http://bbs.tsba.org/showthread.php?p=222963#post222963 . Nothing real bad, just got a little closer to Gary than I would have liked. He came out with a dented muffler and me with a broken radiator.

Let's try this again in a few months.

    Thumbs up

Yes indeed. Pretty good BBQ too. Hey Houston- Must have been every member there- what a great turnout. Austin crew a little late there but going in circles will do that!! Yo SA- always on top of it. Ft Worth guy- take it easy goin' home. You da bomb.
That was a neat little run there after the food. There's nothing like a group ride. That's why I joined the club. Great time. Thanks all.

Minus one I suppose. SOrry to have missed this AGAIN!

Bike was washed, serviced, and ready to ride. Left at 9 am to make the run and the heavens opened up less than 2 miles from the house. Got soaked in a gully washer. From my "on saddle" position it looked like there was more of the same up ahead, so I turned her around and headed for home.

Sorry you didn't make it and sorry you got wet today Keith! Seems you were the only one to do so. At least you kept the rain off us.
