Default Houston Area Dirtiness - Highlands on Sunday!

Headed for Highlands on Sunday July 20th to meet up with a couple of guys from Thumper Talk. This is a great park with several interesting track layouts. Come on out and join in on the fun. We should be there around 10am.

I'll be in the White 07 Tundra with a 6x12 Black Pace Trailer in tow. We generally park next to a grove of trees on the left toward the back of the park.

By 3 we were back in Katy and downing Tylenol for the aches and pains. Had a great time today, but took a nasty spill in a VERY slow corner when I pulled in the clutch as I approached a sharp left on a small practice track in back (and I do mean small). I hit the gas to flip the rear around, but with the clutch pulled in the bike did nothing but rev. Front end was way out of line and folded under me - which resulted in a VERY sudden stop using my left shoulder for cushion. Unfortunately there was no "roll" - just a very sudden halt in forward motion. Ouch!

No damage to the bike (it even kept running), but my shoulder is sore tonight and will likely be worst for the wear tomorrow. Range of motion is good and I have no issues lifting anything - well, no issues beyond just being sore.

Heat was the real killer today. Most I could do was about 5 laps before having to come in for a bit. I had a blast, but need more time "on track" to learn to jump. Unfortunately though, it seems there are a bunch of riders out there who already know what to do and I don't want to get in their way. I'm thinking of building a small practice track on the farm in Yoakum this fall. That way I could stop in to see the folks AND have some fun at the same time.

I look forward to getting out there sometime. I can ride...but I'm not much of a jumper (yet).

Made it out of bed this morning without issue (other than general soreness), so I guess the fall wasn't as bad as first thought. I'll let ya'll know if it turns funny shades of black and blue.
