    Default SMR 6/7 Spoiler Alert

There will be a recreational bicycle event starting in Fayetteville at 8:00 am on June 7, 2009: The Fayetteville Good Ole Summertime Classic. Based on my experience, bicycles will be everywhere from Columbus to Round Top all morning. Although I won't attend the SMR (R6 still in break-in mode, and me reading the recently acquired owner's manual), I am advising an alternate SMR route for the group on Sunday.

Ok, who else is going? Post up.

It's been longtime since I rode to Navasota on the bike. Isn't FM3090 being repaved?

Based on advice I got at the meeting yesterday, and the manual's higher than expected RPM limit for break-in, I couldn't stay home. I really enjoyed riding with the group today on my "new" R6, but the DPS break threw a wrench in the works. I appreciate the fact that the group looks out for the slower riders. I think I'll shut up now.

We stopped for a "chat". Out of 13 riders, only 3 got warnings for expired inspections. Actually a nice visit, well, as nice as a visit with a state trooper can be. After seeing the age of the group, he asked if we were having a mid life crisis, then after looking at some of the more senior members of the group, asked if this was a "bucket list" thing.
It did cause us to maintain a ridiculously slow pace for the remainder of the ride. Muchas gracias to Stuart and Hans for riding sweep.
    Other than that, pretty uneventful.

The Deputy stated that Texas has a crackdown again motorcyclist and he can unconditionally pull anyone he so desires over. We were doing nothing wrong he just wanted us to know that his county does not like Houston motorcyclist driving fast on his county roads.

Also, Jesse needs to throw away his shirt or not wear it in the Deputies county.

Scotty and I had an uneventful ride back to Houston no policia.

I didn't hear the bucket list bit, but that's funny. I do remember thinking he wasn't very good at math when he said "mid-life crisis".

Well at least you had a real police man stop you.

A buddy and I were out and had stopped on the side of the road to talk, he was trying out the Super Connie, when a group af GXSRs pulled up and stopped in the same spot. 30 seconds later I had a game warden demanding to see my license, he said I passed him doing 130... I was on my buddy's Ninja 650. Turns out one of the GXSRs had passed the game warden and cut him off trying to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. I suspect his intention was to hold us all there till a trooper arrived but given how busy they were this morning I doubt if any were available. We all got a stern warning and were let go.

Next time the state will want us to have valid permits to drive in all the neighboring counties. Understood it's a privilege to get the valid drivers license with "M"endorsement to drive on public roads. Insurance and inspections are current and then this particular Deputy mouths off saying he don't want no motorcycles riding in his County over the Primi Facia speed limits, thanks for the warning. lol.. Good work you all and Paul too!

We need transformer motorcycles that will convert to Hardly Ablesons when a cop is detected. Funny, but used to be anyone on an HD was immediately harassed by 'the man' as a hoodlum / gang member. Now they are the righteous and everyone else is a punk.

Actually, he said he used the excuse of us stopping in the road to pull us over. When we said something about "pull a motorcycle over anytime", he said it was true. He said they have gotten lots of complaints about motorcycles running fast out there, so he was out for that reason. Yes, he said the county was tired of motorcyclist coming from Houston every weekend and riding fast. Can't really blame the locals about that. Don't thnk we would want Hardlys running past our homes all day every weekend. He's doing the bidding of the people that live there and he was polite about it. He could have written tickets for the infractions, but let us off with warnings.
