Default Palo Duro Canyon...not the park

I was checking out Palo Duro Canyon State Park on MapQuest & noticed what looked like trails or dirt roads all through the canyon, east & south of the park. So, I zoomed in on the map & switched to aerial view & this is only a fraction of what I found. The white lines represent dirt roads, according to MapQuest. If this is even partly accurate, I want to get me some of that!!!

Pan around on this map & see where all the roads lead. They're all over the place!

The only problem with these roads would be if they're on private land rather than being county roads....

It's all private land and for the most part inaccessible. I thought the same thing too when I first moved out here. And of course there's no offroading in the park itself even though they do allow pedal pushers.

    Cool

My understanding is that the various trails there are for hiking and bicycles only.

By the way, we went there a few years ago for one of the Texas outdoor plays...way cool. I understand that they do a new version every summer. Hotter than a mofo, but real nice once the sun goes down. I may have to go back someday.

If you decide to go, let me know. Susan and I may go too. It's been a few years since the last time we went.
