Chas, very sorry to hear that our guest had such a terrible outcome from his crash. Hope he makes a full recovery. Will definitely keep him and his family in our thoughts.

I believe many Harley guys spend more time revving their engines than actually driving anywhere; I sometimes wonder why they bother to have wheels on their motorcycles.

Just noticed this. Sounds very grim.
Was he experienced or new at the game?

God bless and hang in there Steve.

I'm presuming someone tried calling the missing phone
    while at the scene.

We did not know to look for the phone at the scene, so did not think of it then - and no one would have his number anyway.

He is not new to this - he's a former CMRA racer with quite a bit of saddle time.

Serious, but not grim. I'm sure he appreciates all the well wishes.

To characterize what happen as a NASCAR effect suggest that we were all bunched up in a group and the lead rider slammed on his brakes is not accurate. Hopefully when Steve gets better he can tell us his side of the event and then we can fill in the holes. When I last looked back in my mirror prior to slowing to make the turn Steve looked to be about 1/8 of a mile back from me ( could of been less, not sure ) Fred and Edgar looked to be about that far back from Steve ( could of been a little more or less , not sure ) David was about three to four bike lengths ahead of me and Charles was three to four bike lengths ahead of David.

Steve gave his side. It doesn't mesh with Fred's.
