    Default New Scooter

Got a new scooter. It definitely is the biggest motorcycle I have ever owned. However, it is incredibly agile. Since it will be used primarily for my daily 45 mile commute (talk about overkill), I thought I would at least do the initial engine run-in properly. So instead of having it shipped immediately from my friend's dealership in San Jose, CA; I took temporary delivery there and put the initial 600 miles on the Pacific Coast Highway.

PCH matches the tightest of roads in AR but excludes all the driveways and the scenery is stunning. Like Europe, the slower traffic pulls over for you! Throw in the complete acceptance of lane splitting and Northern CA is motorcycle heaven. I had forgotten how wonderful it was to ride in that state.

Since it did not happen without photos, here is a link to some of the better ones : http://curvecowboy.com/k1600gt_pch. Just click on the thumbnail to get a bigger version.

Congrats on the bike, Merry Christmas to you. I still think you're a p**sy for not riding it all the way back.

    Merry Christmas to you, Paul!

There were some hard won concessions involved. Sadly, a solo cross-country was not one of them. The K1600GT would certainly have been the finest machine I had ever made that run with.

Congrats Kent! Gorgeous bike and great place to break it in.

Lol, overkill for commuting? Yep and your point? One nice thing about the 1400 Connie was it would go from daily commuting to long trip in about the time it took to pack the hard bags.

Nice ride Kent! I like! Even better, breaking it in on PCH! I'm going to have to look hard at BMW the next bike.

Sweet bike.. Hard road to ride and keep the eyes on the road as you pass the breathtaking views of the ocean. RV's at 70mph are scary though. Great purchase!

I don't know if that is a true story, the pics kind of look like seawall blvd in Galveston.

Congrats on the new bike. Nothing beats getting it brand new off the showroom floor!

Very nice. I (and Scott) got to ride PCH and a great mountain switchback off of PCH during the Moto GP weekend with a local. Freaking heaven on a bike.

The road we took was the Nacimiento Fergusson Road from inland, back up to Monterey.

By your pics it looks like you went north of San Franscisco, did you head south as well?

That bike is very cool. Great break in trip.

Very little difference between the Galveston crowd and the NorCal bunch.
