    Default SMR 1-8-12

assuming the weather is okay, is anyone interested in an SMR this week?

I haven't ridden in a few weeks and I start my new job on Monday, so I'm itching to get out and ride a little before the grind kicks in again...

I haven't ridden in a few weeks, well actually months, and am starting a new job on Monday also. I'd like to get out for a short ride but not sure if I'll be able to make time this weekend with all the drama going on.

Fun ride today (for me, anyway).

Paul, Volker and Fred showed up at JIB and we headed out to Fayetteville.

After the turnoff from Racer Road, Fred's gear shift lever on his BMW decided to break off, leaving him stuck in 3rd gear. Paul and Volker returned to Brookshire with Fred to make sure he made it home all right.

As we were discussing the broken gear lever at the roadside, Charles showed up (running a few minutes late) and joined me for the rest of the run to Fayetteville.

We had a great breakfast of migas and headed back to Houston afterwards. I ran into a couple of guys I know from GSS (Chris, who bought my old KTM, and his buddy Dave) and we chatted for a few minutes before they headed into Orsaks for lunch.

The ride home was fairly uneventful except for the boulder Charles kicked up turning onto 949 - I have this sucker on video and you can hear it when it takes a sizable chunk out of the chin vent on my formerly nice Bell Star. Full face helmets FTW!

Got home safe. Met up later with Paul to get breakfast using the ZX14. Glad I have multiple bikes. Too many is never enough!

The BeeMer goes 60-65 in 3rd gear without a problem. Still not sure about why it would break like that. Must be the Chinese aluminum casting that once supported the shifter pivot.
