    Question Dunlop Qualifier

Dunlop has brought back the qualifier...not the Q2's but the original Qualifier.
They are on sale for $200 a set at Cycle Gear.
I was thinking of getting these for the track days ahead.
I would not be using them for street but track only.
Some have told me the Q2's stick very well with no slippage, I am wondering if the Qualifiers are the same stickiness. I do not need the dual compound, just traction.
Is the only difference between the two, that one has a harder compound in the center?

I would like to hear from someone who has used both and at the track.

My bike is the 2010 VFR1200F.........about 570 lbs.
    Thanks

If the Q2's are gone then I'm going back to Rosso Corsa by Pirelli! Those two where the only ones that stuck on both my 12R and my 10R.

I was asking the difference between the two. The qualifier that Cycle Gear has on special ARE NOT the Q2's
If you order both front and rear it is $200

Geogetown Honda says they never stopped making them. (Had my choice last tire purchase)
The Q2 (Qualifier 2) is the same but stickier on the sides. When they went to dual compound, the 'top' stayed the same, sides got softer.
Either one makes for happy Hondas.
3500 miles is about it. (rear)

If that is the case, then I will get the Q2's
I want stickier not mileage...track use only.

I found the info I was looking for
The qualifier is not a track tire
the Q2 is a track tire

i have not regularly used either recently (in years). from the website info, i really doubt the Qualifier has the stick of a Q2, especially leaned over.

I've worn thru many sets of Dunlops in the intermediate group. I was happy with the predecessors to the Q2. I was not happy with the multi compound soft sidewall Q2 when they were introduced. They would wear out so fast, I could barely get 2 days out of the Q2, front and rear. Liter bike, mediocre suspension, and phat rider all contributed to me abandoning Dunlop for the Bridgestone BT-003RS, briefly, then the last couple of years on the Pirelli Diablo Superbike Pro slick. without warmers.
If you are a fair weather rider like me, I'd highly recommend these slicks. plus, i really like getting tires at the track, their prices are reasonable and they promptly mount and balance them.

note, i've bought plenty of tires at cycle gear, but none in the last 2 or 3 years. but a brief caution about tire sales, if tire age bothers you, determine the manufacture date before walking out of the store. several times it looked someone was clearing old inventory. often the tires 'on sale' were already 2 or 3 years old. this did not deter me since they seemed to work fine, and Dunlop had indicated a 5 year shelf life for the street tires i was using. Dunlop's website indicates the Qualifier has returned, so they are probably recently manufactured. I'll have to look around the paddock to see how they fare. i could use a bargain track day tire.
