    Default Goodbye Texas World Speedway!

Looks like the fastest track in our neck of the woods in going to be scuddled next year. We ought to try to do a track day in 2014 before this legend is gone.

Yea, heard about this when I was at MotoGP this year. Looks like it's going to finally happen. That track has been saved many times in the past, but don't think it can be this time. I've heard it's in pretty bad shape today, with one of the retaining walls about to fall over.

CMRA has been talking about this for awhile now. I havent looked into it but they finalized the next years schedule in June/July usually. So unless they got everything pushed through the city really fast CMRA will have one more year there. So will the track day providers.

If you follow the link Mike posted there is a petition to sign for keeping the track. Apparently Brian / College Station has not yet approved the municipal district for the subdivision.

Yeah I signed one some time ago. It won't matter though, the owners are in it for profit, not for racing. It will go away and no petition will stop it. They will make WAY more money building houses out of it and I believe the new homes being built by it are complaining of the noise. Go figure, you move next to a track and you can ***** about it.

We have the same problem in San Antonio with people living in the path of airplane landings. The airport was here long before the homes and now the people are getting new windows and other sound-proofing abatements. You can't fix stupid.

I bought a lake house but I hate the smell of dead fish, I know I'll have them fill the lake in.
