Default 2018 Memorial Day Weekend Monday Ride?

    Hey guys,

Thinking about borrowing a street bike and going for a Hill Country ride on Monday, Memorial Day Weekend (of this year 2018 Lol!!!). Since I'll be on a bike that makes my old ZRX look small it will be a leisurely paced ride (plus I haven't ridden on the street in a few years). Would like to go out and ride the 100 mile loop but since I live out towards Gonzales now I'll have to see how I'm doing in the saddle again.

    Anyone interested?

    You can make it Rob.

Where at up there? I just got back from dirt bike riding around the Green River area in Utah.

So far we've got around 8-9 people riding.

Thinking about meeting at the Valero at Bulverde Rd & 1604 at 8 with ksu at 8:15 (wait for Doug until 8:20 ). Head out to 16 and ride PR 37, 1283 to English Crossing, 16 to FM470 through Tarpley, 187 up to Vanderpool and then over the mountain on FM337. Top off and ride the 100 mile loop.

On the way back turn left at Medina and ride 16 into Kerrville, take Cypress Creek into Comfort, FM 473 over through Kendalia and to 281, and Rebecca Creek back into town. That loop from my old house in Live Oak was right around 375 miles. It'll be a nice 500 mile day for me. Just gotta get my butt back into riding shape again. Sucks getting old!

It will be good to ride with the old crew again.
I hardly ride the streets anymore.

Looking forward to this before putting my new Q3+ tires on.

Looks like we're going to have a parade going on. About 15 riders so far.

If someone from the west side of town is joining us we should be at 16 & PR37 around 8:45.

Took me 4 hours to change my plugs and clean my air filter.
I planned to change tires but ran out of time.
I will peel off early if my tires start to show cracking before the steel cords appear. I may have enough for all day but these tires are new to me.

BTW. Id like to trade my FJR (Blue Book $6000 - $6500) for a near new KLR 650 (list approx. the same) or equivalent. Even Steven. No money changing hands. Just title. I want to be like Carl T when I grow up.

Great ride yesterday guys (and Amy). No incidents (vehicle or popo) other than trying to herd a bunch cats out of town.

It was hot for sure but not really that bad. The traffic was pretty light overall and the riding still rocked.

Great seeing the old gang again.

Let's get another ride going soon.

Thanks for putting this together Carl. Enjoyed seeing the old gang and meeting a few new ones. I logged about 270 miles and was pretty wore out when i got home. I can't seem to get comfortable maintaining speeds like i used to, but all things considered that's probably for the best.

I did 477 miles on Monday, it was 120 miles to/from the meet point and home. That's about what I was figuring.

The wind protection on the ST is tons better than anything else I've owned although I would have liked to have been able to flip a switch and transformed it into the 636 when we got up to Vanderpool. Still it did pretty good and I had a great ride. It felt great to be back in the street saddle.

Thanks Carl T for putting this together. It was an overdue ride with old friends for sure! I had a great time, especially hanging out at the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop. Great burgers, shade, view and cool breeze made it hard to leave. If there had been a hammock, it would of been evening before I headed back! The ride back was HOT! How did July get there already?! We need to try and schedule one of these rides once a month, just not until Sept please.

It was also really good to get in one last ride, for some time probably, with old friend Thomas Nutt. Good luck back in Ohio dood! Hopefully we get to ride your neck of the woods soon.

Here's a little of the video I shot that day. I'll try and put some more together later.
